Fox Chapel – White

4-1

We showed lots of individual skill. Our players worked hard in the hot conditions with only one substitute available. Nick and Kevin did a great job in goal and Kaitlyn showed again that she is more than able to compete with the boys. Nice goals by Matt, Luke and John (2). We have to eliminate the hand balls and keep our team shape until the end of the game.

TriCity

4-2

Our players continued to showcase their individual skills.  Matt split the defense to score two excellent goals. John added a third goal and his cross led to a fourth goal when a TriCity defender deflected the ball into his own goal.  We were disorganized at times and sometimes our players dribbled too much. We need to improve on our passing and teamwork. To move to the next level our players need to be more aware of their responsibilities and make better decisions on the ball.

Fox Chapel - Green

2-3

An excellent performance. We played most of the game with one less player than our opponents. We still gave Fox Chapel all they could handle.  Our players created many good opportunities and we were unlucky not to get a better result.. Alex and Cheyne celebrated their first goals of the season.

Fox Chapel - Red

2-0

We didn’t play our best soccer and there were extended periods of the game where both teams bunched around the ball. On the other hand, our players produced two spectacular goals.  Matthew showed excellent first touch in controlling a cross from John and finished with a deadly low  shot into the corner of the goal. Alex scored the second goal by piercing the Fox Chapel defense on a solo run straight up the middle. Sweet!

Hampton - Gray

1-2

Two evenly matched teams in a close game.  We had a number of good opportunities, especially in the first half, but we were able to convert only one into a goal (Matt).  Hampton improved their play in the second half and scored two goals. Overall, we had the better of the play but were unable to take advantage.  We needed better combination play and teamwork to breakdown a stubborn defense. This game showed that it takes more than individual skills to be a successful team.
