The girls got off to a good start for the new season today, defeating Knoch3 by the score of 6-4.†† Kaitlyn Koontz led the way for Harmar, getting a hat trick in the first half, and a forth goal in the second half.†† Erin Doris and Kristen Kaminski also scored for Harmar.†† Harmar had some frantic moments in both halves as Knoch continuously put pressure on to tie up the game but Harmar lead throughout the contest.†† For the new girls just up from the U8 division, they played hard and held their own against the more experienced players.†† We look forward to a good season as we build on this hard fought victory.
Game 2 Results
The girls came out strong in the home opener and defeated Highlands2 by the score of 6-2.†† For the second week in a row Harmar was led by Kaitlyn Koontz. Kaitlyn scored four more goals today, bringing her season total to eight after just two weeks.Sara Udanis also scored twice for Harmar, her first two goals of the season.†† Harmar had numerous other scoring opportunities, sending several shots just wide of the goal and hitting the post once.
Game 3 Results
The girls came out strong and never let up, dominating throughout the contest and defeated TriCity by the score of 9-0.†† Harmar applied constant pressure in the offensive zone and featured a balanced scoring attack, as five different players scored.†† Erin Doris led the way with three goals.†† Adding two goals apiece were Kaitlyn Koontz (9,10) and Colleen Garrigan with her first two goals of the season.†† Emma Whelan also scored her first goal of the season after some hard work and impressive foot work on her part.†† Also scoring a goal, her third of the season, was Sarah Udanis, but only after shooting no less than five shots wide of the goal.
Game 4 Results
The girls put up another great effort this week, defeating a strong TriCity1 team by the score of 6-2.†† The first half was played to a 2-2- tie, but Harmar came out strong and dominated the second half, scoring four goals for the 6-2 win.For Harmar, Kaitlyn Koontz and Erin Doris each scored two goals while Emma Whelan and Sarah Udanis both scored one goal each.
Game 5 Results
Harmar ran into a tough Freeport team this week, and for the first time this season came away with the bitter taste of defeat, losing their first game of the season 5-3.†† Freeport was able to control the tempo for most of the game, while Harmar could only apply little pressure in the offensive zone.†† The girls played hard and never gave up, but were clearly outplayed.†† Kaitlyn Koontz led Harmar again this week, scoring two goals and Kristen Kaminski added one of her own, but it wasn't enough to close the gap.
Game 6 Results
The girls got back to their winning ways this week, defeating a strong Kiski team 5-3.†† Harmar took the lead early by a goal by Kaitlyn Koontz(15) got the scoring started, then goals by Erin Doris(7) and Sarah Udanis(5) gave Harmar a 3-1 lead at halftime.††† In the second half the two teams traded two goals each (both Harmar goals scored by Kaitlyn Koontz, bringing her total for the season to 17), but Harmar was able to hold off the Kiski surge for the victory.
Game 7 Results
The girls fell to a strong Knoch team this week, losing their second game in three weeks, 6-4.†† In the first half the teams traded three goals back and forth.†† With each Harmar goal Knoch was able to answer quickly with a goal of their own to tie the game, keeping the game tied at the half.†† In the second half the Knoch girls used a blinding sun to their advantage, keeping the pressure on the Harmar defense for most of the half to bring home the victory.†† Sarah Udanis scored twice for Harmar, bring her season total to seven goals, but once again Harmar was lead by Kaitlyn Koontz, who scored her 18th and 19th goals of the season.†† Kaitlyn, who will miss the season ending game next week, will be moving forward to U12 soccer in the fall, and if ever there was a player who was ready to move on, itís Kaitlyn.†† It has been my pleasure to coach Kaitlyn for these last few seasons, GOOD LUCK KAITLYN!!!
