PMSL O-40 PLAYOFFS –Fall 2007

Gentlemen

This years PMSL Fall playoffs will be played using a single elimination tournament format over 3 weekends Oct 27^th, Nov 3^rd and Nov 10^th. The October 27^th games will be played at the home fields indicated on the Fall schedule with the home team responsible for field and referee costs. The six semi final games on Nov 3^rd will be played at 3 locations – Harmarville, Penn Hall in Monroeville and Schenley Oval. Finals on Nov 10^th will be played at Century Field. Tournament fees will cover field, assignment and referee costs for Nov 3^rd and Nov 10^th.

Note: Oct 27^th games will not count toward Fall league standings.

General Rules

• Player passes, team rosters and team lineups are required for all teams/players participating in each playoff game. To be eligible for the playoffs all players must have been on the team roster for at least the last two weeks of the Fall 2007 season.
• Home team (listed first) has choice of color of jerseys to be worn for each match. Each team must bring an alternate color jersey.
• Any delay from the official starting times is limited to 10 minutes after which the game is forfeited. Please have teams available on or ahead of time so we can maintain our field schedule.

It is our goal to have this tournament run without incident on or off the field. Referees have been advised to officiate the games strictly. There are no appeals on Division Directors or Refs decisions!!!

• A player who gets two yellow cards in playoff games is out of the playoffs.
• A player who gets a red card in playoff games is out that game and out of the playoffs.
• Referees must report red cards to PA West as well as each Division Coordinator

Rules:

Full length games (2 forty minute periods or 4 twenty minute periods)

If a playoff game ends in a tie there will be an immediate 10 minute golden goal then penalty shootout.

Directions to Penn Hall Field

PennHall Field is located at intersection of Hochberg and Old Frankstown Road in Monroeville. 

•Take turnpike to Monroeville exit

•Rt22 East to Rt286 East

•Left onto Old Fransktown (at National City Bank intersection, 3rd signal from Rt22)

•Field ~1mile on left.

Directions to Harmarville

Via PA Turnpike (traveling from Monroeville or Butler Valley):

Take Exit 48 of the PA Turnpike (Allegheny Valley). On exiting the toll booth go in the direction of Cheswick/Springdale. Travel approximately 0.3 miles. Make a left at the Harmar Township Municipal Building. The fields are behind the building.

Via Route 28 South (traveling from Freeport, Natrona Heights, Brackenridge); (Be aware of single lane restriction for 2 exits notth of Harmarville)

Travel Route 28 South to Exit 11 (Harmarville, PA Turnpike). At the bottom of the ramp make a left turn (to PA turnpike). At the third set of traffic lights make a left turn onto Freeport Road (old 28). Follow Freeport Road for 1 mile (past the entrance to the PA Turnpike and under the turnpike overpass). Make a left at the Harmar Township Municipal Building. The fields are behind the building.

Via Route 28 North (traveling from Pittsburgh, Millvale, Etna,  Fox Chapel) :

Travel Route 28 North to Exit 11 (Harmarville, PA Turnpike). At the bottom of the ramp bear to the right and go straight to the second set of traffic lights. At the traffic lights make a left turn onto Freeport Road (old 28). Follow Freeport Road for 1 mile (past the entrance to the PA Turnpike and under the turnpike overpass). Make a left at the Harmar Township Municipal Building. The fields are behind the building.

Directions to Schenley Oval

Directions from Parkway East I-376

Before Squirrel Hill tunnels (outbound/heading east) or after tunnels (inbound/heading west) take exit 5, "Squirrel Hill".

Take sharp right exit ramp to "Greenfield".

Follow Beechwood Boulevard to first stoplight at gas stations.

Turn right at light, crossing bridge over Parkway.

Keep left after bridge proceeding up through park to first left.

Left turn onto Overlook Drive.

Park near steps on right to access Recreational fields.

Proceed further and park near restrooms on right to access Schenley Oval.

Directions from North, Route 8

Cross Highland Park Bridge and follow Route 8 south (Washington Boulevard).  You will pass cycling track and Pittsburgh Police Station on right.

Continue up Washington Blvd. crossing Route 380 (Penn Ave.) (6th traffic light after Highland Park Bridge)

Turn left onto Beechwood Boulevard at the next (seventh) traffic light, bend immediately to right and proceed until 1st stoplight.

Turn right onto Wilkins Avenue, proceed 3 more stoplights until CVS store on left.

Turn left onto Wightman Street, proceed 3 more stoplights.

Turn right onto Beacon Street, proceed until joining with Hobart Street and proceed to 1st stoplight.

Turn left and then immediately to right onto Overlook Drive.

Park near steps on right to access Recreational fields.

Proceed further and park near restrooms on right to access Schenley Oval.

Different directions may be available online but simplest directions from downtown would appear to be PA-51 south from Liberty tunnels to Pleasant Hills cloverleaf. Right ramp onto Curry Hollow Road past Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery. At “Exotic Dancers” sign turn left onto Brownsville Road which shortly becomes Cochrans Mill Road. Almost an immediate left onto Hough Drive to Century United Soccer Complex. Be sure to allow sufficient travel time as there are lots of traffic lights.
