Under6 Modified Rules & Field Structure
Philosophy
Provide an
environment where young players can have fun, develop individual skills and be
introduced to the game of soccer. The
program will be co-ed with boys and girls playing together.
The club will make every effort to select even teams at the start of
each season.
Length: 40 yards,
Width: 35 yards.
Size 3
Maximum number of
players on the field at one time is four (4) per team. Maximum number of
players on the roster should not exceed eight (8). There will be no goal-keepers. On game days,
each coach will divide his/her team into two groups of 3 or 4 players. Each
group will play for a half of each quarter.
Substitutions may be made by the coach at any time.
Law IV Players
Equipment.
All players must wear
shin-guards. No jewelry is allowed. Footwear may be soft-cleated soccer shoes
or tennis shoes.
There will be no
referees. The coaches are allowed on the field with the players and they will
make the calls.
No linesman
used. The coaches/parents will ring the
field of play and are asked to immediately return the ball to the field of
play. This will keep the game moving.
Four (4) quarters,
eight (8) minutes each. There will be a
5 minute break at half-time. There will be a 2 minute break between other
quarters. Each quarter will be split in half to allow for substitutions.
At the start of the
game, the start of each quarter, and after a goal is scored, the play will be
started by a kick-off from the center of the field. The team taking the kick at
the start of the quarter will change each quarter. The team that concedes a
goal will take the kick-off to restart the play. The opposing team players must
be 3 yards from the center mark while the kick-off is in progress. The Kick-off
will be allowed to go forward or backward. The ball should not be kicked to the
other team.
The coaches/parents
will ring the field of play and are asked to immediately return the ball to the
field of play. There will be no goal
kicks, corner kicks, or throw-ins.
A goal is scored when
the entire ball crosses over the entire goal-line between the goal-posts. We
will not keep score during the games. The team that concedes a goal will take
the kick-off to restart the play. The opposing team players must be 3 yards from
the center mark while the kick-off is in progress. The Kick-off will be allowed
to go forward or backward. The ball should not be kicked to the other team.
There will be no
off-side.
All fouls will be
penalized by an indirect free kick. No cautions or ejections will be issued to
players.
All free kicks will
be indirect. The opposing players must be at least three yards from the ball.
